French singer and songwriter, as popular as Elton John in France and Japan. Originally named Polnarev, he was born to Russian Jewish musician Leib Polnareff (also known as Léo Poll) and French Breton modern jazz dancer Simonne Lane. He had a half-brother, a Bulgarian scientist named Boris Polnarev (1922-2013).
