          Michael Pagliarulo's Biography

American athlete. This left-handed power hitter was selected in the free agent draft of 1981 by the New York Yankees and played in the minor leagues until 1984 when he was called up to the majors. That same year, in July, he became that team’s regular third baseman. The highlight of his career came in two consecutive years, 1986 and 1987 when he hit 28 and 32 home runs consecutively. In July 1989, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, but had a disappointing season, and, about 18 months later, in January 1991, he jumped to the Twins as a free agent. In August of 1993, he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles and was granted free agency in November that year when he signed with a Japanese Pacific League team. He ended his baseball career in 1995 with the Texas Rangers, hitting a career total of five major league grand slams. His father was a minor-league player in 1958.
