          Max Gänsslen's Biography

          German internist and university lecturer known for the development of a leech extract for the treatment of pernicious anemia, marketed by Bayer AG under the name of Campolon since the beginning of the 1930s.
          Gänsslen was awarded the Paracelsus Medal in 1968. He died on 30 March 1969 in Frankfurt am Main, aged 74.
