          Max Flesch-Thebesius's Biography

          German physician, surgeon, local politician, art lover and arts patron. His books include the medical text, Chirurgische Tuberkulose (1933), and an edited anthology of poems, Felix Schumann: Meine Liebe ist grün wie der Fliederbusch – Gedichte (1947).
          He was the main initiator of the efforts to rebuild the war ruins of the Old Opera House in Frankfurt am Main and founded the “Save the Opera House” campaign. The Nobel Prize for Literature Nobel laureate, Thomas Mann, wrote him a letter of encouragement.
          Flesch-Thebesius co-founded the Society of Frankfurt Doctors, serving as its president and later honorary president.
          He died on 6 April 1983 in Kronberg im Taunus, aged 93.
