German-Jewish anatomist, criminal anthropologist, gynecologist, and sexual and social reformer. In his sexual reform writings Flesch mixed liberal and repressive approaches. He criticized the stigmatization of prostitutes, but also advocated a medical reporting obligation regarding sexually transmitted diseases.
On 13 September 1942, Flesch and his wife Hella were arrested by the Gestapo and transferred by truck to a community camp in Giessen and the following day to Darmstadt. From there they were deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp on 27 September 1942, where he died on 6 May 1943, aged 91.
