          Martine Doutrèwe's Biography

          Belgian examining magistrate in Liège, in charge of the disappearance file of Julie Lejeune and Mélissa Russo. In December 1996, two months before her career was interrupted due to serious illness, she had to face the “Dutroux commission” during two hearings which did not spare her much. The deputies who were members of the commission reproached her for her “lack of availability” and her “errors of appreciation” in the conduct of the open investigation after the disappearance of Lejeune and Russo. She died of pleural cancer on 28 April 1999 at 6:30 AM EET in Tilff. Although, according to other journalistic sources, she died at Bordet Hospital, Brussels.
