          Martin Sachnowitz's Biography

          Norwegian salesman, musician, and victim of the Holocaust. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Russia (father) and Latvia (mother).
          In the the four volume work “Våre Falne [Our Fallen] 1939-1945,” commissioned by the Norwegian government in 1945 to commemorate those who had perished during the war, Sachnowitz’s entry is in Volume 4, p. 36.
          Sachnowitz was arrested and put in the Berg prison camp on 26 October 1942 as part of the Holocaust before he was deported to Germany on 26 November. He died in Auschwitz on 14 March 1943. His father and six siblings succumbed too.
