          Maria del Carmen Millan's Biography

          Mexican writer, professor, researcher and academic. She was the first woman to become a member of number of the Mexican Academy of Language. She was delegated repeatedly in Congress and in some Latin American Literature Congress of Educational Television. She was adviser and secretary of the Department of Arts at the Faculty of Arts of the UNAM. She was director of the Center for Literary Studies of the UNAM. She was a visiting professor and lectured at universities in the United States, France, England, Germany and Spain. She worked for the Ministry of Education, where she became director general of the department of Disclosure. She was general director of Radio Education (XEEP-AM) and general director of the Mexican Corporation Radio and Television Channel 13. She was appointed a full member of the Mexican Academy of Language on 28 June 1974, she took up the chair XII 13 June 1975. She was the first woman member in the history of this institution. She held the post of secretary 1981 until her death, which occurred on 1 September 1982 in Mexico City.
