She was one of the crew of the Discovery mission, 04/12/1985 and on board the Columbia, 06/05/1991. A pretty, petite blonde, she is a workaholic with loads of drive and ambition. She married a NASA pilot, Robert “Hoot” Gibson, a year older than she. They were classmates at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston in January 1978 when they were among 35 candidates (out of 6,000 applicants) selected to train for the program.
