          Marcello Marchesi's Biography

Italian writer, movie and theater director and author of film scripts, television and radio programs. Marchesi looked like a bookkeeper, always dressed in dark clothes and wearing a hat and glasses with dark frames but he was actually a brilliant intellectual and humorist. After completing law school, he began writing for a satire magazine, “Il Bertoldo.” In 1950, he directed his first film, a comedy. He wrote a popular trilogy of novels, published sequentially in 1962, ’63 and ’64 that focused on the average Italian in the heart of the economic boom. Increasing his scope, he wrote such successful programs for TV as “Canzonissima,” 1969-73.
He drowned in one meter of water on 7/19/1978, San Giovanni in Sinis, Italy.
