French supercentenarian who was the oldest man in France from 5 October 2021 until his death.
He was a taxi-ambulance driver from 1937, and as such helped the Resistance, being fairly free to move around. Then he ran a garage in Saint-Romain-en-Gal before retiring in 1967.
Married in 1930, to Marthe, he was survived by an only daughter Nicole (born in 1937), a granddaughter and a great-grandson. He had been a widower since 1998 and remained at his home, in the same house, from 1957 until his death.
He died from Covid-19 in the early hours of 15 December 2021 in Vienne at age 112 years, 156 days.
