Manuel Pérez Trevino's Biography
Mexican military and politician, major character of the Mexican Revolution. He was president and founder of the National Revolutionary Party (PRI now) and subsequently on two occasions; governor of Coahuila, opponent in the candidacy for the presidency of Mexico’s General Lazaro Cardenas del Rio; Mexico’s ambassador to Spain and Portugal from January 1935 to January 1937. In 1940 he founded the Anti-National Party. He enjoyed the confidence and support of General Plutarco Elias Calles, reaching genealLázaro compete with Cardenas’s candidacy for President of the Republic. Possessor of a strong and clear political sense managed to maintain internal unity of its state administration and his party. At the convention in 1933 that appointed General Lazaro Cardenas candidate for President of the Republic, the National Assembly of PNR gave a long and enthusiastic applause recognizing its political merits.
He died in the city of Nueva Rosita, Coahuila on 29 April 1945.
