Manuel Gonzalez Pato's Biography
Puerto Rican educator, writer and athlete who served in the US Armed Forces during World War II, where he reached the rank of second lieutenant. In 1931 he moved to Louisiana to do studies in agronomy and there began practicing boxing in the welterweight category. He wrote several books, including a “Treaty of Physical Education and Athletics Sports” which was used by the OAS. In 1953 he joined the faculty at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, where he remained until his death in Ponce on 10 November 1973. He attended the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932. It was coach and head of athletics at Central in 1966. Much of his life was dedicated to teach track and field athletes. He developed, polished, and became champions in their specialty students of the Catholic University.
