Luis de Zulueta y Escalano's Biography
Spanish writer, professor and politician. Member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain by District 22: Redondela, during three terms of the historical period known as Bourbon Restoration in Spain, member of the Reform Party, was elected to parliament on several occasions during the monarchy of Alfonso XIII. After proclamation of the Republic was presented to the 1931 elections as an independent, leaving chosen deputy representing the province of Badajoz. He was Minister of State in one of the cabinets government headed by Azana and ambassador of Spain in Berlin and the Vatican, a post he remained at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War and held until the moment when the Holy See recognized the Government General Franco. After the war was exiled to Colombia, where he worked as a professor at the Normal School of Bogota and then to America, where he died in the city of New York on 2 August 1964.
