          Lorne Worsley's Biography

          Canadian hockey player, a goalie who won the Vezina trophy twice and the Calder trophy in 1953. He played with the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota North Stars between 1952 and 1974.
          He was known as “Gump,” as he was one of the most colorful, cantankerous and stubborn characters in modern-day hockey. Over his 24-year professional career, his antics while tending goal became legendary. He never wore a mask on the ice until the final six games of his career.
          The Hall of Fame hockey player died on January 26, 2007 Beloeil, Quebec after a long illness and a heart attack. He was 77.
