          Lisbeth Glaeser-Wilken's Biography

          German stage actress who made her debut in October 1910 in the role of Helena in the play Das Glück im Winkel by Hermann Sudermann. Three years later, she married her director Paul Albert Glaeser-Wilken in Riga. After that she followed her husband to various theatres. From 1915 to 1920, the family was based in Rostock, where three children were born. In the early 1920s, the family moved to Berlin.
          The years of economic depression in Germany brought massive financial difficulties for her family, so she decided to become a teacher again, having passed the teacher’s exam back in 1907 in Danzig. From the 1930s, she appeared only sporadically on stage. At the end of the 1930s, the family moved to Groß Buchholz near Perleberg, where they taught at the local school, gave piano lessons and, took up organ playing, making additional income for the family. Lisbeth Glaeser-Wilken died during a stay in Lübeck on 11 April 1977, aged 90.
