          Linda Darnell's Biography

American glamorous actress, the daughter of a postal clerk and an ambitious stage mom who groomed her for show biz from the time she was five. An exotic beauty with a perfect complexion, she made a debut in 1939 with a series of decorative roles in the ’40s and ’50s as the virginal heroine or faithful young wife, gradually shifting to sultry temptress. Her films include the melodramas “Blood and Sand,” 1941, “The Loves of Edgar Allen Poe,” 1942, and “Forever Amber,” 1947. After 1957 she made only one film.
Darnell had three marriages and divorces. While visiting a former secretary in the Chicago suburbs on 4/10/1965, the house caught fire while they were watching a TV rerun of one of her films, “Star Dust,” and Darnell was killed in the fire.
