          Lester Pearson's Biography

          Canadian politician, Prime Minister from 1963-1968. He served as the Canadian Ambassador to Washington 1942-1946, helping to shape foreign policy. Pearson also held the offices of Minister of External Affairs 1948-1957 and President of the General Assembly of the U.N. 1952-1953, as well as other positions. He played a central role during the Suez crisis as Secretary of State for External Affairs and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957.
          Pearson died December 27, 1972 in Ottawa, Canada..
