          Les McKeown's Biography

          Scottish rock musician, singer, and guitarist he was the lead singer of the Bay City Rollers during their most successful period. McKeown jointed the band in 1973, replacing original singer Nobby Clark.
          The band’s manager Tam Paton chose the group’s name by sticking a pin in a map of the USA. They signed to Bell Records in 1971, toured extensively throughout the UK, but received their highest popularity in Japan.
          McKeown began solo work in 1978, his hits include “Keep on Dancin'” (1971), “Sha-La-La” (1974), “Give A Little Love” (1975) and “Strangers in the Wind” (1978).
          He died suddenly at his home on 20 April 2021, aged 65.
