          Leo Lewis's Biography

          American gridiron football player and coach, he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1973 and the College Football Hall of Fame in August 2005.
          He played college football as a running back for Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri from 1951 to 1954 and professionally with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1955 to 1966. He served as the head football coach at his alma mater, Lincoln, from 1973 to 1975.
          Lewis had three children, two of whom played professional football, Leo Lewis III and Marc Lewis. Leo Lewis died on 30 August 2013 at age 80 at his home in Columbia, Missouri. He had been battling an illness for some time.
