          Lee Sannella's Biography

American M.D., psychiatrist, ophthalmologist, writer and kundalini researcher. Lee practiced ophthalmology and psychiatry in San Francisco, Sonoma County, and the East Bay. He ran his own psychiatric clinic in Berkeley from 1962 until 1972 and an in-patient service for substance abuse problems in Berkeley. In 1974 he co-founded the Kundalini Clinic in San Francisco. Lee has consulted and given lectures and seminars all over the globe from Iceland to Brazil over several decades. His greatest loves have been writing, music, philosophy and research. His first book (1976) “Kundalini: Psychosis or Transcendence?” was published in three languages and became a classic in the study of mysticism and altered states of consciousness. His recent book is “On Genius: An Evolutionary Force Inherent in Every Being”. Lee set up a Yale Medical School scholarship in his and his father’s names. From both a spiritual and scientific point of view, Lee’s groundbreaking work has been farsighted, sensitive and sensible. Lee was a student of the American-born spiritual teacher, Adi Da, whom Lee credited as his primary spiritual guide.
He died on 19 March 2010, at age 93. Lee is survived by four children from his marriage to Tresa Marks, plus eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife and companion of 24 years, Anne Howell. (quoted from Petaluma Argus-Courier via legacy.com)
