          Kirsti Hjort's Biography

          Norwegian pianist, professor of music, and countess. She married in 1953 the violinist Conrad von der Goltz, a German count, and they lived in Hamburg and Hanover for a time, performing a number of duets. They spent 1957-58 in Oslo when Conrad was to play first violin at the Philharmonic.
          They settled in Würzburg, where she became a professor at the local music college. A number of record releases were made, including with Trio von der Goltz where Jan Polasek joined in with cello (1966). They had six children, including Gottfried von der Goltz (1964) and Kristin (Gräfin) von der Goltz (1966), both well-known musicians.
          Hjort died on 10 October 1990 age 59.
