Karin Helgeby's Biography
Norwegian ceramist who has held several solo exhibitions, including at Galleri Finsrud in Drøbak (1977), Kauffeldtgården in Gjøvik (1979), Galleri Hylla BIB in Oslo (1981), and Hillestad gallery in Tovdal. As a ceramist, she has mostly worked with utilitarian objects in stoneware and porcelain with decorative surfaces.
In 1976, Helgeby established together with Kristin Enger a ceramics workshop in Ringgården in Drøbak, and worked there until she moved to Vestre Sandøya in Tvedestrand in 1980. Ornamentation has always meant a lot in her work. For a period, Helgeby worked with ornamental expressions inspired by writing and calligraphy, and shades of colour have been important to her in her work with the ornaments.
