          Julien Haton de La Goupillière's Biography

          French engineer, director of the École des mines de Paris from 1887 to 1900, president of the Société d’encouragement pour l’industrie nationale from 1888 to 1892, and the Mathematical Society of France in 1890, and vice-president of the conseil général des mines from 1900 to 1903. He was dean of the Academy of Sciences.
          He is the grandson of General Jean Martin Petit (1772-1856).
          He died on 7 January 1927 in Pau, aged 93.
