          Julian Lago's Biography

Spanish journalist who became one of the icons of journalism during the democratic transition.
For years, he was a regular collaborator in various radio talk shows, such as “La lantern” on Cadena COPE in 1987 and 1988, in “El primero de la mañana” on Antena 3 Radio in 1991 and 1992, in “La Mañana” on COPE between 1992 and 1998, and on “Onda Cero” between 1998 and 2001. He also directed the political analysis news program “La Espuela” on Radio Spain.
At the end of 2008, fleeing, according to what he said, “the falsehoods of the journalistic world”, he went to Paraguay, establishing his residence in the town of Simón Bolívar. There he bought a ranch and a few head of cattle, helped communities of Guarani Indians in need, and was preparing to build a school to educate the children.
On 14 May 2009, in the town of Coronel Oviedo, in the department of Caaguazú, a motorist ran over him when he was getting out of his car. He was taken to the city Clinic and later to the Asunción Baptist Medical Center, with a head injury and in a coma, where he died on 4 August 2009 at age 63.
