Costa Rican astrologer, practicing astrology as his sole professional activity all of his life. Inspired first by Max Heindel, and later by Dane Rudhyar when he was 17, he moved on at 20 to find Marc Edmund Jones, who gave him the grounding he needed, and whom he considers his teacher.
Juan writes that “My practice is heavily psychological, and being in session with a client, in total concentration in his or her intimate self, is what I love most in life. I have always been interested in the occult, even before I found astrology in my teens. But I came in contact with Rudolf Steiner’s Anthroposophy when I was 20, and through him and also through the influence of Krishnamurti, regained in freedom what the other tendencies of occultism had taken from me: my personal, untouchable, unconditional and incorruptible relationship with Christ.”
Other than three years of study in the U.S. and two years in Mexico, Juan has always lived in Costa Rica. He has a B.A. in Geography and Anthropology from the University of California, and has taken many advanced courses in Psychology. In December 1998 he came to Zane Stein’s forum “Chiron and Friends,” which was his first real contact with an astrological community. It was also his first really serious attempt to deal with Chiron and his first acquaintance with the astrological centaurs.
Juan writes, ” I enjoy being alone with my bouvier of Flandres, away from the inner storms and dissolution of my own identity that I experience when I am in love. My anima tends to swallow me.
“I like to keep Anthroposophy and Astrology completely separate, because the way I see it, Astrology is technical and psychological, only a tool, not life. The living mystery I see not in Astrology, but in the magic of the alchemical relationship I establish with the soul of the people I get close to.”
“I am an expert in the calculation of astronomical ephemeredes and everything having to do with positional astronomy, through which I hear a pulse and a music that compares only to the music I hear when delving into a person’s biography, dead or alive, and although I derive an immense pleasure in doing all those astronomical calculations and writing and perfecting my own astrological software, my real passion is going deeply into other people’s innermost feelings.”
