          José Maria Plans y Freyre's Biography

          Spanish physicist and mathematician. Endowed with great intelligence and extraordinary capacity for work, he studied physico simultáneamenteciencias, industrial engineering and architecture. Professor of Mechanics at the Faculty of Sciences of Zaragoza (1909-1917) and Madrid (1917-34), was the first to introduce in Spain the Theory of Relativity. The line of his physical thinking was reflected in its contribution to the “relativistic mechanics” (1919), then in its infancy.
          He died in Madrid in 1934.
