Johnny Sain's Biography
American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who was best known for teaming with left-hander Warren Spahn on the Boston Braves teams (1946-1951). He was the runner-up for the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award in the Braves’ pennant-winning season of 1948, after leading the National League in wins, complete games and innings pitched. He also played for the New York Yankees (1951–1955) and Kansas City Athletics (1955). He later became further well known as one of the top pitching coaches in the majors.
Sain was married twice and had four children with hi first wife. He was disabled by a stroke in 2002. He died on 7 November 2006 at age 89 in Downers Grove, Illinois.
