          John Korty's Biography

          American filmmaker, screenwriter, animator, director and producer, who was successful with his work on made-for-TV movies, with the likes of Go Ask Alice and Ewok Adventure to his credit. He received an Emmy for his directorial efforts on The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974), and an Emmy and Oscar, in 1978, for his work on Who Are the Debolts, and Where Did They Get Nineteen Kids?.
          At age 16, Korty was already producing amateur films and after he completed his education in Liberal Arts at Antioch College, he turned professional. He spent the early part of his career designing and directing animated television commercials, winning an Oscar for Breaking the Habit in 1964. His first feature was Crazy Quilt (1965), and although over the years, his films became more mainstream, they could never be classified as conformist.
          John Korty died on 9 March 2022 at age 85 in Point Reyes Station, California.
