          John Harland Bryant's Biography

          American physician, also known as Jack Bryant. During World War II he served as a pilot in the Navy. He earned his MD from the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University in 1953. He completed an internship and residency in medicine at Presbyterian Hospital in New York and decided on an academic career. Bryant’s book “Health & the Developing World” (Cornell University Press, 1969) is a landmark assessment of the problems and vast inequities in health care delivery in the world’s less economically advantaged nations.
