          John E. Parsons's Biography

          American lawyer, naval officer, and historian, noted as the author of the book West on the 49th Parallel: Red River to the Rockies, 1872-1876 (New York, 1963).
          He was the second child and first son of anthropologist Elsie Clews Parsons and her husband, politician Herbert Parsons.
          John E. Parsons died on 20 July 1976 at age 72 in Harrison, New York.
