          Joan Dillon's Biography

          American teacher, historic preservation activist and author. Her work saving and restoring the Folly Theater in Kansas City, Missouri made Dillon a nationally known historic preservation advocate. With David Naylor she write the book, American Theaters: Performance Halls of the Nineteenth Century, which was published in 1997. In 2007 she published Barns of Cape Cod with her son, Kent C. Dillon and photographer Blandon Belushin. For the last ten years of her life she lived in Cape Cod permanently and it was in her home there that Joan Dillon died at the age of 83 of leukaemia and cardiac arrest on 18 January 2009.
