          Jimmie W. Monteith's Biography

          United States Army officer who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions (“courage, gallantry, and intrepid leadership”) in World War II at the D-Day landings in Normandy, France. First Lieutenant Monteith was killed by enemy fire on 6 June 1944 at age 26 near Colleville-sur-mer.
