          Jean Taris's Biography

          French champion swimmer who competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics, 1932 Summer Olympics and 1936 Summer Olympics. At the 1932 Olympic games in Los Angeles, Taris won a silver medal in the 400 m freestyle event. Taris was the subject of Jean Vigo’s 1931 9-minute documentary film ‘Taris, roi de l’eau (ou La Natation par Jean Taris)’ [Jean Taris, Swimming Champion].’ He died on 10 January 1977.
