Belgian ophthalmologist and professor of ophthalmology at the University of Ghent, who published an influential textbook of ophthalmology, Cours d’ophtalmologie, in 1853. He became director of the Institute of Ophthalmology of Brabant in 1853, where he remained active until his death.
