          Jean-Pierre Hoschedé's Biography

          French artist’s model and the youngest stepson of painter Claude Monet, although some biographers have speculated that Monet may have been his biological father. As an adult Jean-Pierre ackowledged his physical resemblance to Monet.
          Jean-Pierre’s father Ernest Hoschedé went bankrupt in 1877 and he was born at his aunt’s place in Biarritz, his mother having escaped Paris to stay with her sister there.
          Ernest, his mother Alice, he and his siblings later moved into a house in Vétheuil with Monet, Monet’s first wife Camille, and the Monets’ two sons, Jean and Michel. Ernest spent increasing lengths of time in Paris and in 1878 left for Belgium.
          Monet’s wife Camille died in September 1879, and Ernest Hoschedé died in 1891. Jean-Pierre’s mother Alice Hoschedé married Claude Monet on 16 July 1892.
          Jean-Pierre Hoschedé and his step-brother Michel Monet were portrayed by Claude Monet in Monet’s garden at Vétheuil (1880).
          Jean-Pierre Hoschedé married in 1903 and again in 1956. He died in Giverny on 27 May 1961, aged 83.
