          Jean Pheulpin's Biography

          French engraver and designer of postage stamps, who received the ‘Grand Prix de l’art philatélique français’ for his “Éléphant” series (Laos, 1958).
          He was an art teacher for a few years in college in the Paris region, also engraving book illustrations for national museums and editions of Les Bibliolâtres France.
          He engraved atamps from 1949, particularly for the French colonies and independent Francophone countries. He engraved a large majority of the Laotians stamps issued 1952-1967, after drawings by Marc Leguay and Chamnan Prisayane.
          Having designed more than 650 stamps, he engraved his last stamp “Centenary of the Pasteur Institute” in 1987 for France.
          He died on 8 October 1991 in Paris.
