          Jean Peyrot's Biography

          French doctor and politician (Democratic Left), elected to the Academy of Surgery in 1880 and to the Academy of Medicine in 1898.
          An intern of the hospitals of Paris in 1869, he served in the war of 1870 in the ambulance sector. He became a doctor of medicine in 1876, a prosector at the School of Medicine in 1877 and a surgeon in 1878, and finally an associate professor in 1880. He served in several Parisian hospitals, Bicètre in 1886, Tenon in 1887 and Lariboisière in 1888.
          He was elected senator of the Dordogne in 1903, beating Dr. Samuel Pozzi, his colleague. He remained in office until his death on 11 November 1917 in Paris, aged 73.
