          Jean Francois Millet's Biography

          French artist who is best remembered for “The Angelus,” “The Gleaners” and “The Man With The Hoe.” As he worked largely in dark and muddy colors, he was considered a sentimental traditionalist. Millet was self-taught, but was finally admitted to the French Academy in 1847. Temperamental, he lived a life of modest poverty.
          Millet died on 1/20/1875, Barbizon, France.
