Dutch librarian and poet, noted for his sonnets.
He was the son of sosa Hubertus Jacobus Cornelis Kal (5 Augustus 1918, Rotterdam – 17 June 2010, Haarlem) and Bartha Rifrok (25 December 1922, Zaandam – 9 October 2001, Haarlem).
In September 1968 he moved to Amsterdam. He studied medicine for a while.
From 1 September 1986 till 1 December 2005 he worked part-time in the library of the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam.
He debuted 1974 with 74 sonnets in “Fietsen op de Mont Ventoux” (Cycling up Mont Ventoux)
In 2000 he translated love poetry of Gaius Valerius Catullus: Laat ons leven en minnen, 30 liefdesgedichten voor Lesbia.
