Polish scientist, mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, writer, Catholic priest, a doctor, musician, orator and rector (patron) of the Academy of Krakow. He obtained a doctorate in medicine at the University of Padua. He supported the Copernican theory (he wrote the first biography of Nicholas Copernicus), also appreciated the achievements of scientific research of Aristotle and Euclid. He founded the Cracow Academy mathematical and astronomical instruments, also funded salaries for astrologers and gave the university his library collections, as well as the famous globe (ie. Jagiellonian Globe), one of the first in the history of cartography, which marked the American continent. The scholar left behind many works and treatises.
As an astrologer preparing horoscopes, among others, for kings Sigismund III and W?adys?aw IV , Jan Kazimierz princes and John Albert, archbishop Lawrence Gembicki, the governor of Krakow John T?czy?ski or writer Nicholas Marchockiego. With a rich heritage Bro?ka preserved omen for the years 1633-1634, which analyzes in detail the horoscope of the annual turnover of the world (ingress of the Sun in Aries). On the other hand, in his raptularzu preserved written rules astrological Cardano, Hermes and centiloquium Pseudo-Ptolemy. Brozek, like most contemporary scholars receive fees for services astrology. He was also a professor of astrology at the University of Cracow (1627-1629). Astrology taught mainly based on the work of the Arab astrologer Alcabitiusa (al-Quabsi, d. Approx. 967).
He died 21 November 1652.
