          James Ramon Jones's Biography

          American novelist noted for his best selling trilogy that included “From Here To Eternity,” 1951 “The Thin Red Line,” 1962 and “Whistle,” 1974. The first book was based on his years in the pre-WW II Army and the second volume was drawn from his combat experience in Guadalcanal. Jones had written other books as well, including “Some Came Running,” 1957. For 16 years he lived in Paris, returning to the U.S. in 1974 to teach and finish “Whistle.”
          He was a bachelor until 1957.
          Jones died of a heart attack on 5/09/1977.
