American mathematician, an expert in celestial mechanics and computer programming, whose work on the exact calculation of ephemeris values ??using orbital elements with electronic calculators unwittingly benefited astrologers through their incorporation into Matrix software in the 1970s.
In his youth Rex H. Shudde filed copyright on an “Electron theory, Mechanical drawing” on 4 February 1947.
He earned his BS and AB at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1952 and his PhD in Chemistry at Berkeley in 1956.
He was an associate professor from 1976 to 1990 in the Deptartment of Operations Research at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
In 1978, as “James Neely,” he provided planetary routines with about 1 minute accuracy for all planets in the 20th century and about 1 second to 2 seconds for the Sun and Moon, and these routines were later refined to be more accurate and cover longer time ranges. They were incorporated into Matrix software. This was later documented by Michael Erlewine in the journal Matrix (“The Work of James Neely”).
He was trained as an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioner beginning in 1990 with his wife Bobbi, and worked with Tad and Adriana James. He was also a Huna historian and co-author with Tad James of the Lost Secrets of Ancient Hawaiian Huna (1994).
He married his wife Bobbi in 1958 and they had a son in 1961. He died on 18 February 2016 at age 86.
