          James Griffith's Biography

          American character actor, he originally aspired to be a musician, but after serving in World War II with the Marine Corps, he switched from the stage to appearing in the 1948 film noir picture Blonde Ice. From then on, he enjoyed a lengthy career of supporting and bit roles (sometimes uncredited) in westerns and detective films. On television he played Aaron Adams, the town barber, in twelve episodes of the CBS western series, Trackdown, in 1958.
          Throughout his acting career, Griffith continued to practise his original love of music, having performed in the Spike Jones band. He composed music for the 1958 film Bullwhip and the 1964 picture, Lorna, in which he also had a role and served as screenwriter.
          Griffith married twice and had one child. He died of cancer in Avila Beach, California, on 17 September 1993 at age 77.
