          Hermann von Rampacher's Biography

          German highly-decorated military officer of Württemberg, he served as general of the infantry. With the outbreak of the First World War, Rampacher became Lieutenant General and was appointed commander of the 21st Reserve Division on 2 August 1914. He led the XVIII Reserve corps in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Belgium. On 22-23 August he participated in the Battle of Neufchâteau and then fought until 29 August on the Meuse. On 1 September 1914, he was released from his command and received the post of inspector of the POW camp in the area of ??the XIII (Royal Württemberg) Army Corps. Hermann von Rampacher died in Stuttgart on 25 September 1933 at age 79.
