          Henry Wallace's Biography

American politician, journalist, and farmer who served as the 11th U.S. secretary of agriculture (1933-1940), the 33rd vice president of the United States (1941-1945), and the 10th U.S. secretary of commerce (1945-1946). He was also the presidential nominee of the left-wing Progressive Party in the 1948 election.
He was the author of “Statesmanship and Religion,” 1934. A theosophist, he studied Agni Yoga under Nicholas Roerich. One of the reasons Wallace was not nominated for president (by the Democrats) in 1948 was that the Republicans discovered a batch of letters written by Wallace to Roerich which referred to Roerich as his guru.
Wallace died on 18 November 1965 at age 77 in Danbury, Connecticut.
