          Hendrik Gerard Bungenberg de Jong's Biography

          Dutch chemist who worked in the field of colloid chemistry, paying attention to biological applications. He earned his merits in the partial segregation of colloid systems, for which he defined the term coacervation with Hugo Rudolph Kruyt.
          His technical applications of microencapsulation have found their way into everyday life today. Thus, the generally known carbonless copying paper now used in laser or inkjet printers is attributable to his research.
          He died on 7 May 1977 in Arnhem, aged 83.
