          Hans Goebbels's Biography

          German business executive and SA-Oberführer (Nazi military leader), from a noted family as the older brother of Third Reich Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.
          In May 1915, Goebbels was conscripted as a soldier in the First World War and captured in June 1916 by French troops. He remained until January 1920 in French captivity. Since then, he suffered from severe kidney disease.
          Since 1929 Goebbels was a member of the NSDAP (Nazi party) and from October 1933 general director and manager of the provincial fire and life insurance institutions of the Rhine Province. He was also State Commissioner at the National Insurance Institute of the Rhine Province.
          Together with the Gauleiter of the NSDAP in Pomerania, Franz Schwede-Coburg, he campaigned for the nationalization of the German insurance industry.
          Goebbels became an SA-Oberführer on 9 November 1942.
          He died from blood poisoning on 13 August 1947 in the French internment camp in Katzenelnbogen in the French occupation zone.
