          Hamilton IV Fish's Biography

          American politician, a congressman who served in the House of Representatives representing his district in New York from 1969-1995.
          Fish descends from a long line of American lawyers and politicians. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1944-1946.
          After graduation from Harvard University in 1949, he received his LL. B. from New York University School of Law in 1957. He was admitted to the Bar that same year.
          Casting his bid for Congress in 1968 as a member of the Republican Party, he won the election and took his oath of office on 3 January 1969. He served for nearly thirty years, with an admirable voting record in favor of civil rights.
          He died on 23 July 1996 at his home in Washington, D.C. at age 70.
