Günther Schwerkolt's Biography
German actor, author, composer, cabaret artist, voice actor, and director of radio plays, mainly active from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Schwerkolt was a composer, conductor and soloist for numerous television and radio programmes such as the 1954 big carnival revue Heidewitzka, the 1958 entertainment shows Grüße aus Berlin and Berliner Bilderbogen, Musikmosaik (1971) and Dalli Dalli (1972).
As a film composer, he directed the music to Alwin Elling’s short film Achte mir auf Gakeki (1935), the short film Wenn in Werder blühn die Bäume with Oscar Sabo (1937) and to the satire Wir Kellerkinder with Wolfgang Neuss. In the latter, Schwerkolt also appeared as an actor. He was also seen in Imo Moszkowicz’s operetta adaptation Der Vetter aus Dingsda (in the role of “Josef Kuhbrot”) and in Curth Flatow’s comedy So’n Theater.
In addition, Schwerkolt appeared as a cabaret artist and musician in various programs by Günter Neumann and his islanders, such as Wer will noch mal… , which was recorded for television in 1955, and from 1955 in the SFB cabaret Die Geladenen.
On the radio he appeared as a soloist in Grandpa’s Schlager Festival, among other programmes. He also worked as a voice actor for the German version of the cartoons Asterix and Cleopatra and Alice in Wonderland.
Günther Schwerkolt died on 18 December 1997 at the age of 90 in Berlin.
